Kennebecasis Naturalist Society
Woodcocks

April 17, 2008

There were 15 participants on this outing.

The weather was gorgeous, namely, a clear sky, no wind and close to full moon.

We walked from the parking lot to the meadows to check out for deer. There were not many deer showing up. During this walk we found pussy willows.

Half way back to our parking lot, we spotted two woodcocks but they did not show their display.

We crossed the road and very soon we spotted a woodcock. He did make his frog like sound and after each sound he did make roughly a ¼ turn. After a short time he flew in a big circle and landed on the same spot and made his frog like sound again. We were able to spot this bird with the help of a flashlight.

This trip was a big success.
